Established in 1944, the college is a constituent unit of Magadh University, Bodh Gaya and named after Sachchidanand Sinha, founder of modern Bihar. A decade ago, the college was main centre of education where students from adjacent areas used to take admission.

Due to shortage of teaching staff, the college administration is finding it difficult to run the classes properly. The college offers under graduate (UG), post graduate (PG) and many vocational courses, such as MBA, MCA, BCA, BBA, bio-tech and B Pharmacy. While the college has hired guest faculties for vocational courses, there is huge shortage of teachers for general courses.

According to sources, the college with a student capacity of 12,000, is running with just 19 teachers against the sanctioned strength of 57.

There is no regular teacher in geography, zoology, history, commerce and mathematics departments.

Rajnish Kumar Gupta, a student of B Sc (honours) said, "Our department is at the mercy of God. We prepare for exams with guess papers." Admitting shortage of teaching staff, college principal O P Singh said, "We are trying our best to impart proper education to students with limited res ources.
