GAYA: The district administration has chalked out a comprehensive plan for beautification of Mountain Man Dashrath Manjhi’s ‘Samadhi Sthal’ and his village Gehlaur. The development works will be carried out at an estimated cost of around Rs 17.4 crore.
Recently, the state government has accorded the Samadhi Sthal the status of a tourist place and developments are going on for its beautification to attract tourists.
Executive engineer of Bihar state tourism development corporation Kamlesh Sharma had sent a letter to the Gaya DM on July 8, asking to prepare an estimate for the development of tourist facilities at Dashrath Manjhi Smriti Bhawan at Gehlaur.
Under the plan, beautification of the existing Smriti Bhawan has to be done. Tools of Dashrath Manjhi, including chisel, hammer, besides cap and the cloth he used to wear, will be displayed at the Smriti Bhawan with description in Hindi and English.
The interiors will also be decorated with wall papers on the theme of ‘Mountain Man’.
DM Thiyagarajan SM on Friday inspected the Samadhi Sthal.
He said, “The building of primary school at Gehlaur will be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 28.59 lakh. Community building is also being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 46.54 lakh. Around Rs 42.86 lakh will be spent over drinking water facilities under the Nal-Jal Scheme of the state government. Along with this, a stand post and installation of 10 handpumps will be done by spending about Rs 17 lakh. Around 1000 saplings of different varieties will be planted under the plantation drive and Rs 39.64 lakh will be spent over this with two-year maintenance contract.”
The DM has also instructed civil surgeon Ranjan Kumar Singh to ensure presence of doctors, ANM and other health workers from 9 am to 5pm at the additional primary health centre at the Manjhi’s village.
Solar-powered lights have been installed around the Samadhi Sthal and two security guards deputed for the safety of tourists and other people.
