PATNA: Altogether 17 nomination papers were filed on the second day for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha (LS) elections to be held in eight constituencies of the state on May 12.
Purvi Champaran MP and Union minister Radha Mohan Singh (BJP), Maharajganj sitting MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal (BJP), Sheohar sitting MP Rama Devi (BJP), Vaidyanath Prasad Mahto (JD-U), Paschim Champaran sitting MP Sanjay Jaiswal (BJP), Akash Prasad Singh (RLSP) and Deepak Yadav (BSP) were among the prominent contenders, who filed their nomination papers on Wednesday.
Paschim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Valmikinagar, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Maharajganj, Siwan and Vaishali will go to the polls in Phase VI.
According to additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) Sanjay Singh, no nomination papers were filed for the Gopalganj seat on Wednesday.
“In all, 10 nominations were filed on Tuesday. Besides, 19 papers were filed on Day 6 of the fifth phase of polls to be held for Hajipur, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani and Saran seats,” Singh said and added earlier, 69 nomination papers had been filed for the five seats.
