GAYA: Sixteen persons were undergoing treatment in the heatwave ward of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) on Friday as two persons reportedly died from heatwave in the district this week. One person died at the primary health centre (PHC) in Konch on Tuesday and another on Wednesday.

District magistrate Thiyagarajan SM inspected the ANMMCH on Friday and instructed Sadar SDO Rajesh Kumar to ensure deputation of a magistrate in three shifts in the heatwave ward.

ANMMCH superintendent Shree Prakash Singh informed the DM about patients and the treatment being provided. "Among the patients admitted, some are not related to heatwave but they were being provided necessary treatment. Each case is being reviewed at the level of superintendent and the principal of the medical college," Singh said.

The DM said: "All PHCs have been kept on alert mode and beds are reserved for the heatwave patients. Adequate ice packs, water coolers have been made available. Two separate ambulances have also been marked in every panchayat so that a person can be immediately admitted to the nearest government hospital."
