138 cylinders seized in Danapur raid

Patna: A late Thursday night raid conducted by the Patna district administration in the Shahpur area of Danapur subdivision led to the seizure of 138 domestic and commercial LPG cylinders, including 25 filled cylinders.

The raid was carried out by a team led by Danapur sub-divisional magistrate Anirudh Pandey and assistant district supply officer Tej Pratap, along with police personnel. As soon as those involved in black marketing received information about the raid, they fled from the spot.




During the inspection, officials found no valid documents related to the seized cylinders. Following this, the team confiscated all the cylinders.

An investigation is now underway to determine which gas agency the cylinders belonged to. The supply inspector initiated the process of filing a report under the Essential Commodities Act.

Assistant district supply officer of Danapur, Tej Pratap, said, “Continuous action is being taken against black marketing of domestic LPG gas cylinders on the directions of the Patna district magistrate, Thiyagarajan S M.”

He said several complaints had been received about consumers facing difficulties in getting LPG cylinders, which were being investigated continuously.

According to the ASDO, information was received about the illegal storage of domestic LPG gas cylinders for black marketing in the Shahpur police station area, following which the raid was conducted.

“Action against hoarding and black marketing will continue in the future as well,” he added.
