GAYA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar is likely to inaugurate the new office of Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee and lay the foundation stone for the construction of a 1,180 pilgrim-capacity Gaya Ji Dham Dharamshala before the beginning of Pitripaksh from September 28, said tourism department secretary Abhay Kumar Singh on Wednesday. The final dates, however, have not yet been decided.

The dharamshala is proposed to be built on around 4.38 acre land of the local infectious disease hospital. Singh, who conducted an inspection of different sites in Gaya and Bodh Gaya ahead of the Pitripaksh fair, instructed the district administration officials to get the entire plot levelled, and the old and dilapidated structures demolished soon.

During a review of the preparations for Pitripaksh fair, he asked the police to have full focus on traffic control. Besides, he instructed the district administration officials to have proper crowd management and make arrangements for drinking water, toilets, changing rooms, etc.

During inspection of Brahmasat pond, he directed the officials to ensure its fountain remains operational during Pitripaksh and organise light and sound show every evening.

At Maya sarovar in Bodh Gaya, he asked the officials to get the broken tiles replaced and maintain cleanliness on the premises, besides providing space to the local artists to display their art during the Pitripaksh mela.

He also inspected the department's office, tourism bungalow and JP garden where he asked the officials to ensure its beautification.
