Wife of main accused also arrested for boy’s murder
Ghaziabad: Two days after the decomposed body of 10-year-old Samir Khan was found in a neighbour’s house in Shaheed Nagar, the wife of the man accused was arrested on Sunday.
The woman, identified as Jannat (43), was arrested from a relative’s house in Baghpat, where she was hiding since June 8. The entire family, including Jannat, her husband Abbas Chaudhary, two sons and their wives, were absconding after the murder. Abbas was arrested on Saturday. “She was not with her family when her location was revealed by her husband on Sunday morning. He told us that she was sent to a different location on purpose, away from the rest of the family so that she would be hidden,” said Akhilesh Goud, the investigating officer at Sahibabad police station.
The police said Jannat was taken into custody on Sunday morning and interrogated by police. “She has not been able to narrate the entire incident so far, but we are trying. She engineered the abduction and murder of Samir, along with her husband. Jannat was the angriest when one of the
According to the postmortem report, Samir died due to strangulation. “Samir had a head injury on the back of his head, which explains that he was violently pushed against a wall or on the floor before being strangulated, thus causing the injury. Although the entire family seems equally involved in the crime, only Abbas and Jannat have been arrested at present,” the investigating officer said.
Jannat will be held under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of IPC and will be sent to the women’s police station, Goud added.
Samir had gone missing on June 5 after the argument between the two families. His body was found buried in a pit inside Chaudhary’s house.
