Teacher on way to school stopped, shot at by 2 teens

Noida: A 26-year-old teacher from Surajpur was shot at by two youths while he was on his way to school on Wednesday morning. The teacher suffered a gunshot wound but is out of critical condition after the treatment, a police officer said.According to the police, the victim was identified as Rakib Hussain, alias Rihan, a teacher at Sushil Modern School in Sakipur. A police team rushed to the spot after they received information that a teacher had been shot at. “A team from Surajpur police station immediately went to the spot and rushed Hussain to a private hospital. The bullet hit him near his right ear,” said additional DCP Hridesh Kathariya. During investigation, police found that Hussain was on his way to work around 8.30am when the incident occurred.“As he was near the school, two youngsters believed to be 17 or 18 years old stopped Hussain’s bike and spoke to him and then shot at him. Hussain was admitted to a hospital for treatment and doctors said he is out of danger,” Kathariya said. A police officer told TOI, “They asked him his name and the name of the school where he taught. They even cross-checked his background. Prima facie it appears to be connected to a love affair, but further investigation is underway.”A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. “A probe is on to check whether the incident could be due to an earlier dispute of some sort. Efforts are on to find and arrest the suspects,” the additional DCP said, adding that CCTV footage of the area is being scanned.
