NOIDA: A delegation of the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (FONRWA) met the new managing director of Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) Chaitra V at her Meerut office on Saturday and submitted a memorandum over the pending demand of power upgrade for Noida. The delegation apprised the MD that despite minimum line losses and the highest revenue generation from Noida as compared to other districts of Uttar Pradesh, Noida's power supply system is dismal. They demanded urgent steps ahead of upcoming summers.
“Noida faces increased power cuts in the summer and rainy seasons and the situation is turning worse every successive year. From cable breaks due to slight wind movement leading to hours of outage to old infrastructure leading to overheating of transformers etc., all continue in peak season. It's high time that a solution to these problems should be achieved by now given that Noida reports minimum line losses and generates maximum revenue for the state as compared to other states,” said Yogendra Sharma, president of FONRWA.
K K Jain, secretary general of FONRWA recalled an earlier meeting with former PVVNL MD Arvind Mallappa Bangari held on July 23 last year where all these issues were raised. He said it's been six months since that meeting and residents await action on the ground.
“In that meeting, a large number of members and RWAs were present and had apprised the then MD about the problems related to electricity in their sectors. Bangari had assured speedy solution to the problems but still there’s been no action on the ground,” he said.
Jain added that Noida needs fundamental reforms in the power supply system.
“The condition of transformers, cables, rusted poles, unused feeders, junction/panel boxes, meter boxes etc. all need a recheck, repair and replacement. Lack of this work results in voltage fluctuation affecting electrical appliances of residents as well as outages,” he said.
Meanwhile, MD Chaitra assured the resolution of problems raised by the residents’ body.
