NEW DELHI: Police have arrested a man for allegedly breaking into Seema Haider's house on Saturday, claiming she had performed "black magic" on him.
According to news agency PTI, the accused has been identified as Tejas, a resident of Surendranagar in Gujarat. According to police, Tejas appeared to be "mentally disturbed" and attempted to enter Seema's residence around 7 pm.
"He hails from Gujarat and had bought a general coach train ticket to New Delhi. From the railway station, he took a bus to reach the village. He also had screenshots of Seema on his mobile phone," Sujeet Upadhyay, in charge of Rabupura Kotwali, told PTI.
Tejas has been taken into custody, Upadhyay confirmed.
"During interrogation, he told police that Seema had done black magic on him," he added.
Further investigation is underway.
Seema Haider, 32, originally from Jacobabad in Pakistan's Sindh province, left her home in Karachi in May 2023 with her children and entered India via Nepal. She made national headlines in July that year when Indian authorities discovered her living in Greater Noida with Sachin Meena, 27, whom she now claims to have married.
Seema has four children with her Pakistani husband Ghulam Haider and a daughter with Sachin.
