NOIDA: Sunday’s showers led to power cuts and voltage fluctuations at several residential sectors across the city on Monday. Residents also reported issues with the water supply following the breakdown of the Ganga water pipeline near Sector 64.

In Sector 51, residents lost power at 9.30am and supply was not restored until after 1pm. Pointing to a power pole covered in foliage, RWA general secretary Sanjeev Kumar also complained about the lack of preventive maintenance.

Officials, however, said a breakdown of a new feeder in the sector led to the long outages.

In Sector 122, RWA president Umesh Sharma said residents are fed up with the daily power cuts and plan to file a case against the discom. Issues were also reported in Sectors 28, 29 and 37 of Arun Vihar, with residents complaining of power fluctuations in Sector 29 and power cuts in Sector 37.

In Sector 44, RWA president Sudhir Sood complained of power cuts, saying, the feeder is overloaded with connections to neighbouring villages.

However, officials said that the majority of problems on Monday were related to local faults, and they attended to them.

Meanwhile, water shortages were reported from sectors 62, 64, 51, 19, among others.

Rajeev Sharma RWA president of Rajat Vihar C Block, Sector 62 said the pressure of water supply was very low on Monday. “We have raised the matter with the Noida Authority,” he said.

Residents of Sector 51 reported disruptions in water supply for the last two days. “We request alternate arrangements, say tankers,” said Sanjeev Kumar.

Sources said repair work on the pipeline had begun late on Monday evening and could take a couple days. A response from officials is awaited. TNN
