R-Day: No entry for heavy vehicles to Delhi, brace for snarls at border points

The traffic police in Noida and Ghaziabad have restricted the entry of heavy vehicles to Delhi from 10 pm on January 22 to 23, and from 10 pm on January 25 to 2 pm on January 26. This will cause traffic congestion at the border points between Noida and Delhi, and between Ghaziabad and Delhi. The traffic police have also set up helpline numbers 9971009001 in Ghaziabad and 9643322904 in Noida, in case commuters need assistance.

Noida: The traffic police have restricted the entry of heavy vehicles from Noida and Ghaziabad to Delhi from 10 pm on January 22 to 23 till the completion of the Republic Day rehearsals in Delhi. Similar traffic restrictions will be in place from 10 pm on January 25 to 2 pm on 26, resulting the possibility of snarls at the border points.
Ashutosh Singh, a traffic inspector in Noida, said that the entry of goods carriers (heavy, medium and light vehicles) would remain banned from Noida to Delhi for safety reasons.

“The traffic department will deploy teams at the DND flyway, Chilla road and Kalindi Kunj flyover connecting Noida to Delhi,” he said. The traffic police have also issued a helpline number, 9971009001.
In Ghaziabad, similar restrictions will be in place. The traffic police said that the entry of goods carriers from Ghaziabad to Delhi via NH-9 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway would remain restricted for the Republic Day rehearsals and celebrations in Delhi.
