In the works since 2016, Patanjali food park gets 2-year extension
Noida: The state govt has granted a two-year extension to the Patanjali Group for developing an ayurveda and food park on 430 acres off Yamuna Expressway under its Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy, 2012. The concession was granted because of a delay in construction during the Covid pandemic. The group was also granted a two-year extension to sublease 20% of the land to other companies. A committee led by the YEIDA CEO will be established to oversee the subleasing process.YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Noida Pvt Ltd were issued letters of comfort (LOC) — a document that provides a level of assurance that an obligation will ultimately be met — to develop the parks in 2016 and allotment letters in Feb 2017. The lease deeds for developing a 300-acre land as a food and herbal park and another 130 acres for Patanjali Ayurveda in Sector 24 were executed in July 2022 and the projects were to be completed by Nov 2023.The land for the herbal park has been designated for the processing, manufacturing and production of various agricultural products, food, herbal medicines, ayurveda, animal feed, dairy products, and FMCG items. Patanjali is to manufacture ayurvedic medicines and products on the land allotted to Patanjali Ayurveda. According to the terms of the allotment, permission was granted to sublease 20% of the herbal park land, with an initial seven-year period set for this process. In Jan this year, the YEIDA board approved a proposal to extend the subleasing period by an additional two years. The matter was discussed again in an empowered committee meeting, chaired by the chief secretary, in June. As part of these concessions, the company now has two more years to complete the project. The land will be subleased to units recommended by the company, but the subleasing process will be overseen by a committee chaired by the YEIDA CEO along with representatives from Patanjali Ayurveda and UP govt, officials said. The empowered committee has decided that applications for the sublease will be invited through advertisements at YEIDA’s current allotment rate. The sublease can be executed jointly by Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Patanjali Herbal Food Pvt Ltd. However, govt has rejected Patanjali's proposal to change the land use to allow establishment of textile and solar units. The govt order specified the land can only be used for the purposes outlined in the original letter of consent.
