NOIDA: The ongoing power infrastructure upgrade work is set to enhance transmission capacity in Noida and Greater Noida by 80%, officials said. Last year, the peak summer demand was 1,400 mW in the twin cities. Once the work is complete, Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Limited (UPPTL) will be ready with 2,400 mW capacity transmission facilities, officials said.

Load distribution work is on at 80 substations in Noida and officials have set a March 31 deadline to finish pending projects. On Saturday, officials of UPPTCL and Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) held a meeting. "I have told PVVNL officials that they should complete construction of 33 kV lines and 33/11 kV substations by March 31. Along with this, work to connect all substations with alternative lines should also be done," said Senthil Pandian C, managing director (MD), UPPTL.
Arvind Mallappa Bangari, managing director, PVVNL, said: "Repairs should also be completed by March 31." Puneet Gupta, superintending engineer, UPPTCL, said: "The capacity will be 80% more than what it was and nearly double of last summer demand."
