Kangchenjunga, India’s highest mountain, is the third highest peak in the world. It is considered as one of the most difficult and least attempted peak.

The expedition began on the April 8 from Katmandu and Arjun's team consisted of climbers

Wilco Van Rooijen

and Cass from Netherland and Alex d'Emilia from Italy. Wilco and Cass had to turn around from Camp 2 due to bad health during the summit push. However, Arjun did not feel scared during the journey that posed risks of avalanches, falling rocks and crevasses and finally summited the peak.

Arjun posted his photo with d'Emilia on his Instagram account on Friday. “I have successfully summited

Kangchenjunga

(8586m) on 20th May 2018, 8:05 am along with @alexdemilia . I will give a detailed summary once I am back home. I appreciate all the good wishes, love and positive vibes you guys sent towards us throughout the journey,” he said.

This was Arjun's second attempt on Kangchenjunga. During his first attempt in 2017, the expedition had to be abandoned due to bad weather conditions. In 2010, Arjun Vajpai climbed Mount Everest at the age of 16 becoming the youngest person to have summit it at that point in time. He later climbed Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), Mt. Makalu (8463m) and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m).

Arjun wants to become the youngest mountaineer in the world to scale all 14 above 8,000 metre-peaks. The next mountain on his list is Shishapangma (8,013 metres) in Nyalam County, Tibet.

Arjun’s mother Priya Vajpai said she briefly talked to Arjun after he conquered the Kangchenjunga peak. “I am happy he is getting the fruits for his hard work. I have always told him give in 100 percent and rest leave to God,” she said.
