Noida: A 56-year-old man was allegedly cheated of Rs 65 lakh in an online investment fraud involving Telegram and a fake forex trading platform.
According to the complaint, the victim, Vikash Kumar Goyal, was approached in early Nov 2025 through a WhatsApp message promoting a forex trading opportunity. He was later contacted by a woman who identified herself as Aashie Agarwal and claimed to be an experienced trader. She allegedly assured him of high returns through short-term trades.
Between Nov 26, 2025, and Feb 11, 2026, Goyal transferred Rs 64,59,125 in more than 65 transactions to different bank accounts. Police said the beneficiary details were shared through Telegram, and a new account was provided for each transfer. He was shown inflated profits on the platform's dashboard to encourage further investment.
When he later sought to withdraw the funds, he was allegedly asked to deposit an additional amount of over 10 lakh as a condition for release. He was continuously pressured to invest more and was given verbal assurances about the safety of the transactions. This was when he realised that the trading platform was fraudulent and the profits were fictitious.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered against an unknown person under sections 318(4) (cheating) and 319(2) (cheating by personation) of the BNS and relevant provisions of the IT Act.
