NOIDA: Family of a man in his forties who was sent to jail on charges of ganja smuggling by Sector 20 police has alleged that he has been wrongly framed in the case in collusion with a sub inspector posted as the DLF chowki incharge.Identified as Nisar Ahmed, the accused was arrested on October 1 after the Sector 20 cops claimed to have recovered 1kg and 400gm of ganja from his possession from near the Mall of India, Sector 18.While Ahmed continues to be in jail, his family members have complained about his “illegal” arrest stating that he is actually a dry fruit trader alleging that Sector 20 police framed him.The family members of Ahmed have alleged that Nisar is a resident of Kashmir’s Budgam and does not own any residence in Delhi. However, even the FIR lodged against Nisar under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act states that he is a resident of Jamia Nagar, Delhi and permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir.According to the family of Ahmed, he was called to Delhi by Delhi resident Sayeed Tariq Baig and made to stay near Jamia masjid where Ahmed stayed for 40 days.“He had been called to Delhi for settlement of Rs. 80 lakhs which Ahmed owed to Baig and Baig called Ahmed to Noida for exchange of money,” reads the complaint given by Ahmed’s family to the office of the GBNagar police commissioner.
A copy of the complaint went viral on social media on Friday. The complaint further mentions that while Sector 20 police claimed to have arrested Nisar at 11:55 pm on October 1 from near Mall of India, police checking usually does not happen at the spot in normal days.“Ahmed was framed as part of criminal conspiracy by Baig along with sub inspector Navjeet Singh as he owed Rs. 80 lakhs to Baig which he had not paid,” mentions the complaint further. The complaint further calls for an inquiry into the case under the influence of “bribe.”The Noida police has however initiated an inquiry into the case after the complaint went viral.Additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh said that ACP-1 (Noida) Ankit Sharma is inquiring into the case.“When questioned, Navjeet said in his justification that Ahmed was intercepted with a bag. His family’s contention is that the drugs were planted but the accused has admitted that he was in possession of a bag. This can be because of other angles too so the inquiry is being conducted,” he said. Asked why the Delhi resident called Ahmed to Noida in the first place, Singh said that this aspect also needed probe and will be looked into.Sub inspector served Noida area for three years, transferred on ThursdaySub inspector Navjeet Singh has been transferred to Greater Noida zone on Thursday after he completed three years in the Noida vidhan sabha area.He will be posted in a police station in Dadri or Jewar vidhan sabha areas as per an order of the additional commissioner of police (headquarters).Sources said that the chowki incharge in question has been transferred to another police station area as he continued to serve in the Noida vidhan sabha area for three years.Reports from Kashmir said that the family members are set to complain about the incident to Jammu and Kashmir government and the national minorities commission.
