NOIDA: Team India fast bowler Parvinder Awana was punched repeatedly by a policeman in Noida on Thursday after a heated argument over parking.
The policeman, head constable Bhagat Singh Yadav, was suspended soon after the incident.
Awana said Yadav angrily approached him after he parked his Maruti Swift on the side of the road to take a phone call. "I got an urgent phone call from my family.

Being a law-abiding person, I parked my car opposite GIP mall and was talking over the phone. The policeman asked me to move the car immediately," he said.
But Yadav, according to the cricketer, was in no mood to listen. "I requested him to allow me to talk and assured him I would drive away within minutes. He told me he would issue a challan. When I agreed and pulled down the window, Yadav punched me in the middle of my neck. Even as I gasped for breath, he punched me again in the same place," Awana said.
His family members and friends rushed to his aid after Awana called for help. As the news spread, the police brass swung into action and suspended Yadav. The sub divisional magistrate also intervened. Awana did not file an FIR against Yadav.
Gautam Budh Nagar senior SP Preetinder Singh said that senior policemen went to the site. "We have suspended Bhagat Singh Yadav and ordered a probe against him," Singh said.
