Noida: More focus on sporting activities in government schools after June 16 reopening

NOIDA: Gautam Budh Nagar government primary and upper primary schools will focus on sporting activities once they reopen on June 16, officials have said. While plans are to engage both boys and girls in basketball, table tennis, gymnastics, judo, badminton, cricket and hockey, the focus will be laid on selecting the best players of a particular sport from all the districts for state-level competitions.

For this, the basic education department has been directed to use the services of experts of sports association and officers of the sports department, both serving and retired, to motivate the students. “I have issued directives to all block- and divisional-level schools in the district to ensure sporting activities. This has been done on the directive of the director, department of basic education,” said Aishwarya Lakshmi, basic shiksha adhikari, GB Nagar.
