Noida: MLA
Pankaj Singh visited the Sector 123 waste-to-energy dump site on Tuesday along with Noida Authority officials, including additional CEO R K Mishra and officer on special duty R S Yadav, and acknowledged that the dump site is within close proximity of residential areas.
More than 500 residents from sectors 120, 121, 122, 119, 117 and neighbouring villages including, Sorkha, Parthala Khanjarpur, Ghari Chaukhandi were present.
“The MLA heard all our complaints as we explained in detail about the future health and environmental hazards due to this dump site,” said Shiv Kumar Tiwari, RWA president, Sector 122.
“We had petitioned the MLA when a delegation of the residents met him,” said Taran Dhingra, a resident of Homes 121.
Pankaj Singh told TOI that since the matter came through NGT clearance, he has sought more details on it before taking up the issue. “When I met the residents at Sector 123 site, I was told that some points were not presented to NGT which entailed the RTI reply of authority (of 2014) admitting that the site was not feasable for dumping waste. Also the site happens to be on Hindon belt. So I’ve asked for more details,” said Singh.
