‘Missing’ plots worth Rs 400cr traced in Ecotech 6 and 11

Industrial Development Authority (

GNIDA

) has traced

plots

worth Rs 400 crore that had remained unaccounted for so long.

The “missing” plots have been traced to

Ecotech

6 and 11 with the help of a GPS-based mapping software adopted by GNIDA — “One Map Greater Noida”.

Sources said these plots — 138 in total — had either been encroached upon or allotted illegally or were simply lying vacant.

Though they existed in GNIDA’s records, there was no information on their status. Once allotted, these 138 plots are likely to bring additional industrial investments of around Rs 1,500 crore and generate at least 4,000 new jobs.

Officials said these plots should have been brought under some scheme and allotted afresh. They believe the files on these plots were either left out or were with officials who got transferred later. However, sources said, some of these land parcels were deliberately kept away from the eyes of senior officials as they may have been allotted illegally.

Through the One Map system, the GNIDA had earlier tracked 54 plots worth Rs 150 crore across the city while 84 others were found recently.

The beta or trial version of One Map has been linked to the GNIDA website for feedback from residents. During the trial itself, the system has been fruitful in identifying plots worth crores. The final software will be updated and launched by the chief minister soon.

“We had been facing problems of land allotment and accountability for a long time. This

mapping system

was started in the middle of the Covid pandemic and we are still plotting and uploading data from across the city. Once it is complete, it will be a truly comprehensive record of all possible data related to the city. The date will be available to all residents online,” said

The system is being developed on the lines of Singapore’s One Map, which is believed to be a more detailed and comprehensive map with real-time updates. “Once ready, the map will provide a whole lot of information on a single click. Greater Noida will probably be the first city in the country to develop such a mapping system,” said Bhooshan. He added that apart from industrial plots, officials have also been asked to map all institutional, commercial, residential and IT land parcels. The system was developed about a year and a half ago.
