Man steals car from society parking, held

NOIDA: A 40-year-old man was arrested for stealing a Honda City from a

resident.

Rajdev Das, who belongs to Kolkata, was arrested from near the Gaur City intersection on Friday evening, police said. An Accent car with a fake number UP32BX1313 has been seized from him.

Cops said a well-dressed Rajdev entered the premises of Gaur City 1 , 6 Avenue, on August 24. “He entered the society wearing a suit and was carrying a fake identity card of a company so that the guards do not question him. He entered the basement of the society, used a master key to open the lock of the Honda City and smoothly drove the car away. He is a smart thief,” Rajesh Sharma, Bisrakh SHO, told TOI.

The incident was captured on the CCTV camera of the basement, police said, adding that Rajdev was earlier incarcerated for cheating people after impersonating as a RAW agent. “He was recently released on bail after spending 18 months in jail,” Sharma said. An FIR has been lodged against him at Bisrakh police station under Section 379 (theft) of IPC.
