Dr Ketan Anand, owner of Dipakshi hospital, said it was “unclear” if the hospital officials had informed the health department. “My resident medical officer said the man had come to the hospital around 8am on Monday and he was having Covid-like symptoms. He was told that an ambulance would be provided to him. However, he did not have anyone to help him reach the hospital. He left saying he would go by himself, but died around 8.15 am. It is unclear if the staff informed the health department or police. They should have done it,” he said.
However, it was the passers-by who informed police about the body lying outside the hospital. ACP Rajnish Kumar said a police response vehicle received information about the body around 8.45pm. The health department was informed and the body was taken to GIMS, where the Covid result came negative.
District magistrate Suhas LY said, “Soon after information was received, the CMO and police were requested to reach the spot and carry out. Following that, medical teams were sent and action is being taken,” he said. The DM clarified that the death was not related to Covid.
