Land scam: PC Gupta taken to Lucknow, other accused’s houses raided

GREATER NOIDA: The former CEO of YEIDA, PC Gupta, was taken to Lucknow and Sitapur on Tuesday even as police raided the residences of his relatives in their search for the other accused in the Rs 126 land scam.
The police raided the residences of Swadesh Gupta and Sonali Gupta, who have been named in the FIR lodged by an Yamuna Authority inspector after the divisional commissioner ordered the same.

While Swadesh Gupta is the nephew of PC Gupta, Sonali Gupta is the wife of his second nephew.
On Monday, police first took PC Gupta to Sitapur where Swadesh’s relatives stay. Later, they were taken to Lucknow where their original residences were checked but none of the accused were found.
SHO, Kasna, Shailendra Pratap Singh told TOI that the accused were found missing from all these locations but the elderly relatives were present.
“Our teams are trying to locate PC Gupta’s relatives and the raids were a part of that. We are hoping of some more arrests,” he said.
Gupta was brought back with the cops to Greater Noida on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, DGP OP Singh, who was on a visit to Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad too met SSP Ajay Pal Sharma and took an update on the case from the latter.
Sources said that the DGP sought the status of arrests of the other accused and the details of people named by Gupta during his investigation.
The DGP also held a meeting with the additional DG (Personnel), ADG (Meerut zone), the SSP and officers of the Special Task Force and the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad.
