Gujarat cops arrest 7 in Noida for fake job offers

“On July 23, he got a call from the centre claiming he could get a job in an airlines in two months. Vishal along with another friend applied for the same and sent their documents,” said an officer.
Subsequently, four women interviewed the applicants and told them that they were based in Sector 18.
The accused allegedly sent fake appointment letters to the complainants and demanded a sum of Rs 1 lakh stating that the amount would be returned once they get the job. The duo deposited Rs 61,000 in their bank accounts and promised to deposit the rest of the amount later.
Subsequently, the youths were asked to give another online test by the accused but both of them failed in the test.
“They sought more money to pass both of them when the complainants realised that it was a fraud. When they demanded their money back, the accused switched off their phones,” a police officer said.
The Gujarat police reached Noida’s Sector 27 on Friday morning. The accused have been identified as Sakshi Kapoor, Pooja Sahu, Sonakshi Goud and Pratibha all from Delhi, Bhawana and Raveena Singh from Sector 31, Noida and Ashish Kumar from Nirman Vihar, Delhi.
The Gujarat police took them to Ahmedabad after taking permission for the same from Surajpur court.
Manoj Pant, SHO, Sector 20, told TOI that the fraudsters had recently settled in Sector 27.
“It seems that they had been changing their locations frequently. A case has been lodged against them under sections 406, 420, 120 B, of IPC and 34 & 66 C and D of IT Act,” he said.
