has been arrested for allegedly killing his colleague on September 23 during a scuffle at a

private factory

in

Ecotech 1

where both used to work.

Sonu, the deceased, and Ankit were on night duty at Moon Rise Pvt Ltd situated in B block. The two got into a fight when Sonu caught Ankit stealing metal scrap from the factory, and Ankit struck him with an iron rod which led to his death.

A third security guard who rushed the two to the hospital, told the police that the men received injuries while fighting off thieves. After Sonu succumbed to his injuries, his father

, a resident of Dadupur village, suspected one of the security guards had

killed

him.

Rameshwar Kumar, station officer of Ecotech 1, said that an FIR was lodged under sections 302 (Murder) and 323 (Assault) against unknown persons.

Kumar added that soon after Ankit was discharged from hospital, he admitted to have killed Sonu during a brawl. “When asked firmly the suspect revealed the deceased had objected of him stealing iron scrap from the factory. When Ankit did not listen, the deceased tried to fight him and during this, he was hit with a metal rod in his head,” he said, adding that Ankit called another security guard who was at home and lied to him about thieves breaking in.

Police said that the accused Ankit was accused stealing from the factory before as well. “He hit him multiple times in the head in order to keep his secret and after the death of his colleague, he called another security guard who was at home and told him about the false theory of breaking in,” said Kumar, adding that the accused was produced before court and sent to jail on Friday.
