Ghaziabad sees fires in factory & flat, just 5 minutes apart
Ghaziabad: A fire broke out at a garment factory in the Tronica City industrial area on Monday. The blaze was brought under control within half an hour, and no casualties were reported. The incident occurred around 11.20am at Plot No. I-29 in Sector A-1. Upon receiving information, fire officials immediately dispatched three fire tenders from the Tronica City (Loni) fire station, located about 3km away. An additional tender was later sent from the Sahibabad fire station as a precaution.
Firefighters reached the spot by 11.25am and found heavy smoke coming from the first floor of a three-storey factory building spread over a 500 sq m plot. The unit was identified as Manmanrk Apparels Pvt Ltd, a garment manufacturing company owned by Pankaj Sharma. "The fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit," Sharma said.Fire personnel laid hose lines and began firefighting operations. Despite intense smoke and high temperatures, they entered the first floor and tackled the blaze from two directions. The fire was brought under control by around 11.50am, following which the additional tender was recalled. Officials said no injuries were reported. The factory was found to be lacking prescribed fire safety arrangements. Firefighters removed smouldering cloth rolls from the premises and doused them to prevent re-ignition. The operation concluded around 12.30pm, and safety advisories were issued to the factory management. Police teams were present during the operation. In a separate incident, a fire broke out around 11.15am at flat no. 1404 in Govardhan Apartment in Kaushambi. Two fire tenders from the Vaishali fire station, along with senior officials, rushed to the spot after flames engulfed the flat on the 14th floor. Firefighters stretched hose lines from the ground to the upper floor. Two LPG cylinders inside the flat were safely removed, averting a possible explosion. The building's in-house fire safety system was also used. After nearly an hour of efforts, firefighters brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring flats. The flat owner, Ankita Jaiswal, suffered extensive property damage, as most household items were destroyed. No casualties were reported, officials said.
