NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: A Class 12 student was killed and his two
friends
seriously wounded after their speeding car rammed a divider and overturned several times near
Cambridge School Noida
in Sector 27 on Thursday morning. Residents of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Raghav Mehra (18), Yavesh Singh (18) and Rihaan (19) were returning from a party when the
accident occurred around 2.30 am. Rihaan’s family had gifted him the

a few days ago.
Police said Raghav, who was driving, died due to serious injuries. He lived with his family in Windsor Park, Indirapuram. Raghav and Yavesh studied in Class 12 in Ralli International School in Ghaziabad. Rihaan studies in DPS Indirapuram.
Madanpal Singh, Yavesh’s father, said Rihaan and Raghav had visited his house at night and asked Bhavesh to accompany them for a ride in the new car. “I told them it was very late and not safe to go outside but they did not listen to me and left,” Singh said, adding that a police officer called him around 3.30am, informing him about the accident.
Police said the three youths had visited some shopping malls in Noida and went for a party in a restaurant. They later drove to Greater Noida taking the Noida-Greater Noida expressway. The youths returned to Noida through the Noida Expressway and then took the Film City flyover.
Rihaan drove the car for some time and then Raghav took his place. From Film City flyover they drove towards Cambridge School to return to Indirapuram.
Anil Kumar Shahi, SHO, Sector 20 police station, said, “It seems the youths had partied and were driving very fast. The driver took a left turn near Cambridge School and lost control of the vehicle. The car rammed the divider and overturned several times, leaving it badly damaged and the occupants trapped inside,” he said.
Some passersby informed police who rushed the three victims to district hospital where Raghav was declared brought dead. Rihaan and Yavesh received fractures and head injuries.
The victims’ family members arrived at the hospital and shifted them to Shanti Gopal Hospital in Ahimsa Khand 2 of Indirapuram.
According to doctors at the Indirapuram hospital, Rihaan sustained head injuries while Yavesh has sustained external injuries, including fracture of limbs. “Both patients are admitted to the ICU where they have been kept under observation. The condition of both patients is stable as of now and their chances of recovery are high,” medical director, Sanjay Garg, told TOI.
Ralli International School officials said Raghav and Yavesh were students of commerce stream in Class 12. “Raghav’s demise has come as a complete shock for school teachers, staff and students,” school chairman, S K Ralli, said. “Their pre-board examinations are under way and Thursday was a break for them,” he added.
Noida police brought the vehicle to the police station. “We are investigating the matter. We have not received a complaint,” said police.
