NOIDA: Six new Covid cases were reported in Noida on Friday, taking the total number to 109. Two patients were discharged and sent back home after they recovered fully.

So far, 56 people have recovered in Noida, while the total number of active cases is 53. The Noida health department had received 177 reports in the last 24 hours, of which 171 were negative.

“Those who tested positive on Friday included four men and one woman from JJ Colony in Sector 8 and a

. This takes the total number of positive cases to 109. The total number of active cases is 53,” said Deepak Ohri, the chief medical officer of Noida.

Though the jawan is a resident of Mayur Vihar in Delhi, he would be added to the Noida tally since he tested positive there.

Officials said the 35-year-old CRPF jawan had tested positive late on Thursday night. He had come to Noida to get his blood pressure tested at a private empanelled hospital, but started showing symptoms there. His source of infection is not yet known.

The five cases from Sector 8 are members of the same family who were already at a quarantine facility. While health officials did not confirm their source of infection, sources said they may have connections with Cease Fire or Tablighi Jamaat. Cease Fire has emerged as the biggest cluster in Noida so far.

The total number of samples collected was 238 on Friday. So far, the Noida health department has sent 2,821 samples for testing. On Friday, the state government report mentioned 112 cases from Noida. But the number was later rectified as three cases that had been reported earlier were added to the state report again.

While the Noida administration has managed to bring down the number of cases from previous weeks, cases in other districts have been increasing. Noida, which had been leading the Covid count in the state in the beginning of the month, now has fewer cases than four other districts — Agra, Lucknow, Saharanpur and Kanpur. Moradabad is also close with 104 cases.
