Ghaziabad: Five persons were arrested for allegedly assaulting an elderly man and his son with sticks following a brawl over parking in the Kotwali area.
The complainant, Sahdev said his daughter and son-in-law were visiting them for Rakshabandhan on Monday afternoon and had parked their car outside their house. A few neighbours raised objections.
Soon, it spiralled into a verbal spat and then a full-blown fist fight with the men allegedly attacking Sahdev and his son with sticks.
A 2.28-minute video that was shared on social media, showed the five men — Vishal, Vicky, Prakash, Sagar and Vinay — attacking the Sahdev even as blood oozed from his head.
"When my daughter and son-in-law came to our rescue, the accused also hit them. They tried to strike my son-in-law, but I came in between them, and the blow landed on my head. My son tried to intervene, but he was also attacked," he said.
ACP Kotwali Ritesh Tripathi said a police team rushed to the locality after neighbours alerted them. Sahdev and his son were taken to MMH hospital and were released after first aid.
Three police teams were set up to nab the accused and the men were arrested on Monday night from their houses.
"On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been registered in Kotwali police station under the BNS sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 351 (2) (punishment for criminal intimidation)," he said.
