Farmers to block EPE on March 6

Ghaziabad: Amid the ongoing

farmers

' agitation, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday gave a call to

block

the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (

EPE

) on March 6 for five hours from 11am to 4pm to mark 100 days of the protest.

Highlighting the government’s anti-farmer policies, the leaders also appealed to the people of the states that are going to polls to not vote for BJP candidates.

While addressing a gathering at UP Gate on Thursday, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that he will visit West Bengal in April. “Our protest is still apolitical but our leaders will tell the people what is going on in the country. Under this government, fuel price is rising and unemployment is increasing. We will tell them to choose wisely while voting,” Tikait said, adding that they have no other option as the government is still not ready to hear them out.

He added that Gurnam Singh Chaduni had also called for the boycott of BJP. “The government is not ready to listen and so we will have to change our strategy,” Tikait said.

He added that he will visit Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka in March and he will be in West Bengal in April. “After wrapping up my tour to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka in March, I will be visiting poll-bound West Bengal in the first week of April. I will inform the farmers and the youths of the BJP’s anti-farmer policies,” Tikait said.
