Ex-SP neta’s drunk brother abuses cops & doctor, held
Noida: For nearly half an hour on Sunday night, the
He misbehaved with policemen when reprimanded, and threatened doctors and hurled abuses at them when forcibly taken for a blood test at the district hospital.
Police said they spotted Mahesh around 10.30 pm on Sunday near a wine shop in Block-D of the market in an inebriated condition.
“He was disturbing peace. He was using unparliamentary language and misbehaving with others in the area. When we reprimanded him, he started blabbering about how some people belonging to a particular caste were doing wrong things in the government. He said that things would change once SP comes back to power,” said Giriraj Singh, chowki in-charge, Sector 18.
Cops initially detained Mahesh and forcibly took him to the district hospital for a blood test for alcohol. There also he misbehaved with the doctor on duty. “He threatened me, saying that no one can do anything to him and that he will see me. He abused me too,” the doctor on night duty told TOI, on condition of anonymity.
A video of Mahesh arguing with the doctor has gone viral. In the video clip, he can also be seen forcibly taken for the the blood test by staff members of the hospital’s emergency ward and security guards.
He was subsequently arrested under Section 151 of IPC (breach of peace and knowingly joining assembly after it has been commanded to be dispersed) and produced before city magistrate Mahendra Singh on Monday morning. “He was released on a bail bond of Rs 50,000,” Singh said.
When contacted, Veer Singh Yadav, SP’s organisational in-charge, Noida, said that Mahesh was just a party supporter, while his brother Rakesh was expelled from the party on May 7 this year.
However, this was not Mahesh’s first brush with the law. He had earlier been summoned for illegally installing two hooters on his SUV in June 2015 and misbehaving with cops from the Sector 20 police station who stopped his vehicle in Sector 19 market.
Mahesh was challaned for Rs 1,100 for illegally using the sirens on his personal car, but his Toyota Fortuner was not seized.
However, the SHO of Sector 20 police station, Rita Yadav, was transferred out of the district a few days after the incident, giving weightage to rumours of the brothers being close to the power circles in SP.
