Drunk driver sent for medical test, attacks doctor, nurse in hosp
Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man, caught driving a car under the infleunce of alcohol and sent for a medical examination, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting and mistreating a govt doctor, nurse, and a ward boy during the examination.The ward boy suffered minor injuries when Ashutosh Garg, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Sihani Gate, allegedly attacked the healthcare professionals, the police said.Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Kavi Nagar, stated that the accused was caught in a drink-and-drive case on Monday night."Police took him to the district hospital in Sector 23, Sanjay Nagar, after checking his alcohol level with a breath analyser. When the medical staff was taking his blood sample, Garg became aggressive and started misbehaving with them. He slapped the ward boy and attempted to assault the nurse and Dr Gaurav Parashar," ACP Srivastava said.Based on a complaint lodged by Puja, the nurse who was attacked, an FIR was registered at Kavi Nagar police station under BNS sections 121 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter a public servant from his duty), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace).A police source said that the accused was on his way home after attending a party with friends in his i20 car. "The accused was found drunk after his car collided with a parked vehicle," added the source.
