NOIDA: Houses in Sector 19 have been receiving dirty, blackish water supply, with a high TDS level, for the past three days, alleged residents.
Despite repeated complaints made on the matter, residents said they have seen no action from the authorities. They have, hence, resorted to writing to the Noida CEO, with a copy of the letter sent to UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Noida MP Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh, as well.
Citing the water department’s inability to cater to the city’s increasing population, residents also suggested that the project for the city’s water supply be outsourced to an expert agency.
“Extremely dirty, black water with high TDS has been supplied to our sector for the past three days. Despite repeated complaints, there is no attempt to improve the quality and quantity of water,” said RC Gupta, RWA president of Sector 19.
Rresidents are falling ill as this water has become a health hazard, Gupta added.
The RWA of the sector contends that since Noida has expanded in the past few years, a small department like the Authority’s water department cannot manage the water supply of the expanding city with its limited resources, and suggested outsourcing its water management to an expert agency like Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS).
Similar complaints of dirty water supply were made from Sectors 12, 20, 22, among others.
Following these complaints, RP Singh, deputy general manager (water), Noida Authority contacted the Sector 19 RWA president and assured that instructions have been given to the staff to improve the quality of water in the sector. Further, he also scheduled a meeting to discuss the matter with the sector’s RWA on August 17.
