Patients suffering from diabetes can now connect easily with doctors and other patients in the virtual world and create more awareness with the launch of the first social networking site on the eve of World Diabetic Day.

NOIDA: Patients suffering from diabetes can now connect easily with doctors and other patients in the virtual world and create more awareness with the launch of the first social networking site on the eve of World Diabetic Day.
The networking site, called D-book (www.d-book.org), is an online portal specially designed to facilitate communication between diabetics and doctors.

“D-book is not any ordinary social networking site. It’s a platform where people will be able to share their experience and their expertise,” said Rashi Singhal, the founder of the NGO Vission Mission Foundation (VMF) that has started this initiative.
The site will act like any other social network wherein patients will be able to open accounts and connect with people around the world. Additionally, the site will help patients share their experience with doctors through video-conferencing. There is also a provision for parents to store medical data online to facilitate spot sharing with doctors. Doctors explained that a peer support network is essential for people suffering from with diabetes. This helps With peer support, people with the illness have the opportunity to share knowledge and experience that others, including many health workers, do not have.
