GREATER NOIDA: Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives in Jan Dhan Yojana, Demonetization and Goods and Services Tax (GST), the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Dr Dinesh Sharma, assured that the UP government will put forward all issues and concerns raised by business fraternity in front of the GST council and ensure necessary amendments as per requirement.
Sharma, who was the chief guest on Thursday at the 10-day India International Mega Trade Fair (IIMTF) organised by India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML) in Greater Noida from Aug 4 to 15, spoke in the GST seminar on the side lines of the fair. The B2B and B2C fair boasts exhibitors from over 17 countries and 21 states (of India) under one roof.
Addressing concerns raised by traders, Sharma assured all government help with regard to the GST implementation. “UP Government will put forward all issues and concerns raised by the business fraternity in front of the GST council and we will make sure that amendments as necessary are brought in action with time. I acknowledge that some objections regarding GST are justified and government will do the needful in this regard,” said Sharma.
Calling GST a historic financial revolution Sharma said, “Previously, more than 17 types of existing taxes hampered our trade and growth rate. GST is the result of 10-15 years of marathon journey. Business fraternity wants to pay taxes in an honourable way and they don’t want unnecessary exploitation. When business persons are freed from technical complexities of taxation, their contribution towards nation building will become more rapid and intense.”
The GST seminar was organised by Greater Noida Udyog Vyapar Mandal (GNUVM) and IEML in association with All India Confederation of Small and Micro Industries Association (AICOSMIA). Others present at the seminar included Pt Shyam Bihari Misra, chairman Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Rakesh Kumar chairman (IEML), Sudarshan Sareen president AICOSMIA, Jewar MLA Thakur Dhirendra Singh, Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar and more.
GST experts who also addressed the seminar and replied to queries of the business fraternity included Ravi Bansal, president, Chaudhary Jagdish Pal Singh, general secretary and
Vijay Saxena secretary, GNUVM.
