NOIDA: The son of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police was arrested from Sector 126 for allegedly ramming his SUV into a police vehicle near Amity College on Wednesday night while trying to escape.
The accused is 23-year-old Shantanu Singh, a resident of Delhi. "Singh had come in a Hyundai Creta around 8pm to meet his friends who study in Amity College and live in a PG around the area. Some argument ensued between the friends. Hearing the loud voices, a police vehicle parked nearby approached them. However, seeing it, Singh sat in his SUV and tried to flee," said Rajneesh Verma, ACP-1.While trying to escape, Singh's SUV hit the police vehicle and also damaged a few more cars parked in the lane.
"Immediately our teams acted upon it and the vehicle's registration number was circulated. We held him from the border connecting to Delhi under Sector 126. He was challaned under Section 151 (arrest to prevent cognizable offence without magisterial order) of the CrPC," added Verma.
