Greater Noida: A criminal on way to a city court tricked six policemen into taking a detour to his cousin's flat, saying he wanted to take a bath, and fled. The policemen have been sent to jail and an FIR has been lodged against them at Kasna police station.
SP Abhishek Yadav said that an FIR has been lodged against the six cops under Section 223 (escape from confinement or custody negligently suffered by public servant) and Section 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC.
"These six cops had taken him to a group housing flat in Greater Noida," Yadav added.
A reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced on Ankit's head in Haryana.
Ankit was to be presented before a city court on Monday. On Sunday, he was shifted from Maharajganj jail to Lucknow in a police vehicle. Around 7pm, the cops, along with Ankit, boarded a train for Ghaziabad. During the journey, he managed to convince the cops to let his two relatives - who were to come to the railway station in a car - take them to court. Ankit used one of the cops mobile phone to call his relatives, who came to receive him in Ghaziabad.
On the way to the court, Ankit told cops he wants to take a bath and they started driving towards his cousin's flat in Parsvnath Panorma near Pari Chowk. On reaching there, Ankit went inside the bathroom of the third floor flat and fled. The other two relatives also managed to flee.
Ankit has been involved in the murder of BJP leader Vijay Pandit in Dadri on June 7, 2014, after which a reward of 50,000 was announced on his head. He has been involved in several other cases of murder and extortion .
