GHAZIABAD: Nine people have even booked for allegedly shooting dead the son of a former councillor and businessman in Ghaziabad on Sunday evening. Manish Yadav, the son of Rambir Yadav, was getting inside his Mercedes after closing his shop when he was attacked.
One of the bullets hit Manish in the neck and he collapsed. He was admitted to Yashoda Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries on Monday evening.
Police suspect the attack could be the fallout of a family rivalry.

Manish’s family has been involved in a feud with relatives of the accused for the past 15 years. Three persons have lost their lives since then.
Ashish Yadav, Manish’s elder brother, said they had just boarded the Mercedes around 7pm on Sunday when a black car stopped in front of them. “Yashdev (a resident of Bamheta village and from the rival family) came out with a pistol. He fired at Manish and fled in the car,” he added.
Police said Manish’s father Rambir was named in the murder of Sanjay Pahalwan, brother of SP functionary Vinod Yadav, in 2004. Rambir, too, was murdered a few days later, allegedly by Vinod’s family.
Later, the two sides reconciled. But the fights resumed in 2014, when Vinod’s cousin Kapil Yadav was accused of grabbing the land of Rambir’s relatives. A few days after that, Kapil Yadav was also killed.
SP (city) Manish Kumar Mishra said that on the basis of a complaint, an FIR has been registered against Yashdev and some other suspects, including an SP functionary, under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. “Police have got CCTV footage and are trying to trace the black car. The police have detained a few suspects and interrogation is underway,” he added.

Four acquitted
Four persons who were booked in the 2014 murder case of Kapil Yadav were acquitted by a local court on Monday.
Manish, along with his cousins were named as accused in the case. But later, Manish’s name was removed.
In Kapil's murder case, the names of many people, including Manish’s and his aunt’s sons, had come up. However, during investigation, Manish was given a clean chit and others were arrested.
After Kapil’s death, his uncle Maan Singh had lodged an FIR against unidentified persons alleging murder. Later, four persons, Manish, Ashish, Prince and Divyansh, were booked in connection with the case.
During investigation, police added the name of Sachin Yadav and Rohit under charges of criminal conspiracy, while names of Ashish and Manish were removed.
On Monday, the court of additional district judge (first) acquitted the four accused.
