Imraan was arrested from his residence in Kotwali.
Police said the warrant had been issued against him two days ago in a court case filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 of the IPC which pertains to dishonor of cheque for insufficiency of funds in account.
“The accused had promised to lease out a shop belonging to him to a certain Ravindra Taneja. The latter had paid the accused around Rs 15 lakh. However, the deal did not materialize. The accused returned five cheques to Taneja which totaled to an amount of Rs 15 lakhs. However, Taneja initiated a judicial case against the accused when the cheques bounced,” said Kotwali circle officer Manisha Singh.
The case against Imran was filed in the court of an additional chief judicial magistrate. The warrant was issued after Imran failed to turn up in court despite several summons.
