Accused in property dealer murder held

Greater Noida: The brother of alleged gangster and panchayat member Anil Dujana, Mainpal Dujana, was arrested on Wednesday. Mainpal was wanted in murder of Harender Nagar, a property dealer who was shot dead by half a dozen assailants in January last year. He was produced in the court and was sent to jail.

Abhishek Yadav, SP (rural), G B Nagar, said police had declared a reward of R 5,000 for any information on Dujana. The crime branch received information thta he would be visiting Greater Noida.

Police said the criminal intelligence wing of the crime branch, led by inspector Anil Kaparwan, visited the Sharada University roundabout in Greater Noida where Mainpal was supposed to come. “The police team in plainclothes spotted him walking towards the roundabout. The suspect was identified and the team immediately overpowered and arrested him,” said police.

A loaded country-made pistol with an extra live cartridge was recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Mainpal confessed to killing Harender. Mainpal’s brother Anil Dujana is involved in several cases of land grabbing.
