9000 vehicles skip toll at DND as 100 lawyers stage protest

NOIDA: Around 9000 vehicles passed without paying toll at the

DND Flyway

on Saturday as over 100 lawyers staged a protest to assert their long-pending demand of a separate High Court bench for western Uttar Pradesh.

The lawyers who protested for over two hours halted toll collection at the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway for over two hours leading to a loss of over Rs 2 lakh to the company.

According to official data, 8, 973 vehicles including 7, 290 cars, 1, 633 motorcycles and 50 buses crossed the Flyway between 11.30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without paying at the toll plaza.
Commuters travelling from Delhi to Noida and vice versa looked surprised and amused as the lawyers waived at the approaching traffic. They signaled to them about a free movement of vehicles.

“I pay the toll at the DND everyday while travelling to my office in Noida Sector 16 from South Extension but today, I realised that no toll is being collected. Honestly, I am very happy,” said Rohit Sahni of Delhi.
