"Mishika had been put on drips and intravenous fluids after her surgery which was undertaken to repair her intestines that had been damaged by the gunshot. However, she began responding well to oral nutrition around three days back. Her recovery was faster than anticipated. She was discharged on Monday after all her vital parameters were found to be normal," said Dr Sunil Dagar, a spokesperson for the hospital.
Mishika had sustained the gunshot injury on April 12 when bike-borne armed chain-snatchers opened fire upon the family on Link Road. The assailants were trying to flee after snatching a gold chain from her mother while the family was headed towards Delhi on a motorbike.
Ghaziabad police had later arrested one of the accused, Yameen (30), who was driving the bike at the time of the incident. "Yameen had confessed the name of his accomplice during interrogations. The accomplice is, however, absconding from his home after the incident. We are conducting searches at all his likely hideouts and expect to nab him soon," said a senior cop.
