25-year-old rapes minor neighbour, held
NOIDA: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Nawada Rasulpur village in Sector 58 on Wednesday night. The accused has been identified as Surjan, a daily wage worker from West Bengal. On Thursday the accused was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
The police said Surjan and the survivor lived on the first floor and the ground floor respectively of the same house in the village. The girl’s father had gone to work and her mother to the local market when the crime took place.
Surjan called the girl into his room and raped her. The girl then revealed her ordeal to her mother when she returned home.
The woman raised an alarm following which locals gathered at the spot. They caught the accused and thrashed him badly. They then called the police control room and informed them about the matter.
Zahir Khan, SHO of Sector 58 police station, said on Thursday that a police team reached the spot and arrested the accused. “We have registered a case against the accused under Section 375 (rape) of the IPC. He was produced in court and sent to judicial custody,” Khan said.
