2011-batch IAS officer Deepak Meena takes over as Ghaziabad district magistrate

Ghaziabad: Deepak Meena has taken over as Ghaziabad DM, succeeding Indra Vikram Singh. He will take charge of the post officially on Saturday.A 2011-batch IAS officer from Rajasthan, Meena has served as Meerut DM since April 2022. Earlier, he served in Aligarh during his district training before taking on roles as joint magistrate in Azamgarh, Saharanpur, and Aligarh. He was later made the chief development officer in multiple districts, including Agra and Saharanpur.Born on July 15, 1986, Meena completed BTech in electrical engineering from IIT Kharagpur and then worked briefly at Tata Steel before joining the civil services. After clearing the UPSC examination in 2011, he underwent training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.On Friday, Meena told TOI that he would ensure all flagship government schemes were implemented efficiently in the district. "As the head of the district administration of Ghaziabad, I will ensure that all welfare schemes of the govt are implemented in the district till the grassroots level. I will also focus on the several infrastructural projects underway in the city, including RRTS, which is almost completed now. Traffic and urban development will also remain a key focus area," he said.Singh, who was appointed as Ghaziabad DM in Jan 2024, has been made secretary in the agriculture department and director of the State Agricultural Marketing Board. Addressing the collectorate staffers on Friday, Singh emphasised the importance of dedication and efficiency in governance. "We should not leave any work pending at our level. Address obstacles faced by subordinates, whether with love or scolding, as it can lead to better results," he said. MSID:: 117334745 413 |
