NAVI MUMBAI: A 56-year-old woman from Mulund who tried to jump off Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL), Atal Setu, at Nhava Sheva on Friday evening was saved by the driver of the taxi she had hired. He grabbed her hair just as she jumped off the bridge.
The cabbie has been identified as Sanjay Yadav (31). She had told the cabbie to halt on the bridge under the pretext of immersing some religious photoframes into the sea, said the police.
As soon as the vehicle halted, traffic police monitoring the bridge immediately reached the spot. Seeing the police vehicle, the woman jumped off the bridge.
The cabbie, in a quick reflex, caught hold of her hair while traffic cops prevented her from falling off the bridge. Anjum Bagwan, senior inspector of Nhava Sheva police station, said, “Her family claimed that she was mentally disturbed.”
