NAVI MUMBAI: The unseasonal showers in December has brought down the temperatures drastically in the city. Residents have got some respite as since the last couple of days it had turned warm. However, doctors have asked citizens to take certain precautions as these rains will bring along a host of sicknesses with them.
Doctors have asked residents to avoid eating street food, stay dry and warm, consume enough fluids.
By doing this one can prevent from acquiring illnesses and allergies, city doctors said.
Winter bring along its share of allergies, arthritis and osteoporosis. The drop in temperature over the last two days have added to residents’ woes. Dr Sandeep Sonawane said that the unseasonal rain will lead to an increase in viral infections and gastro problems.
“Children and elderly people will be affected the most. Ideally one should stay indoors as much as possible, wash fruits and vegetables well before eating, avoid street food, wash hands before eating and drink enough fluids,” he said. Patients suffering from diabetes and athritis must get vaccinated.
Dr. Akshay Chhallani, consulting physician, said that people must avoid getting wet in the rains. “Those with lung infections and smokers can get affected by this weather,” he said.
