NAVI MUMBAI: In keeping with the high court’s directives to remove illegal shrines in and around government offices, NMMC razed a temple on Friday built in 1994 within Vashi police station.
Earlier, the civic administration had notified all government offices to remove religious structures or photographs.
“Vashi police station had a small temple within its premises which was also removed.
The station in charge had asked NMMC to do the needful,” said local ward officer, Mahendrasingh Thoke. Consequently on Friday the ward with the help of one JCB and 10 workers razed the structure. The idol was taken away for safekeeping.
