Two arrested for possession of drugs worth 24L

Navi Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) team of the crime branch has arrested two men who were found in possession of 121 grams of mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 24.20 lakh. A trap was laid for the duo near a watch showroom in Vashi on Thursday. ACP (crime) Ajay Landge said, “The ANC team, led by Inspector Niraj Chaudhary, had received a tip-off that two men would be coming to Vashi on Wednesday near a watch showroom to sell drugs. Accordingly, a trap was laid in the vicinity. Around 2.30am on Thursday, two men arrived at the spot and were loitering suspiciously. They were detained for inquiry. When frisked, one of them, identified as Salman Khan (45), a resident of Kalyan, was found in possession of 55 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 11 lakh. The other accused, identified as Mohsin Khan (37), a resident of Ulwe, was found in possession of 66 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 13.20 lakh.”ACP Landge said, “The duo have not revealed the source from where they procured the drugs. However, there are multiple layers in the drugs cartel, and the drug peddlers are mostly unaware of the actual source of the drugs supply.” George Mendonca

TN man arrested for possessing sea cucumbers

A man named M Panneerselvam was arrested in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, for possessing 112 sea cucumbers, a species protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. He claimed to have found them on the shore. Forest officials believe the sea cucumbers might have been intended for smuggling due to their purported libido-enhancing effects. The origin is still under investigation.
