NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel JMFC (judicial magistrate first class) court has taken a serious note of the alleged cheating and forgery by a Vashi based builder and his four accomplices, in which the accused have allegedly usurped around 84 acres of land in Karanjade village, Panvel taluka, belonging to a religious trust from Andhra Pradesh.
Acting on the orders of the Panvel JMFC court, the Panvel city police has registered an M-case and booked the five accused for forging the property documents and transferring the said property's ownership rights in their names.
Accordingly, the Panvel city police have arrested two accused, whose names cropped up during investigation. The arrested accused are Sunil Mohite and Ashwin Chavan. While the two masterminds, the builder identified as Urmesh Udani and Kaushalendra Dasji and three others Ganpat Shankar Patil, Vijay Anant Patil and Yashoda Gowda are absconding.
Informing the media at the press conference, Mahant Arjundas of Shree Swami Hathiramji Math said, "The 84 acre land in Karanjade village was registered in the name of Tirupati Tirumala Devasthan since 1914 and since then Shree Swami Hathiramji Math has been appointed as the caretaker of the property. Since 20 November 1947, Mahant Raghuvardas Varu was appointed as manager, who was terminated in 1973 when it was revealed that in 1966 he had committed fraud in connivance with the revenue department officials by transferring the ownership rights of the Karanjade property in his name."
The trust's administrator A.P.Mishra added, " After Mahant Raghuvardas passes away in 1973, three years later, in 1976, the accused Kaushalendra misguided the Chittur court in Andhra Pradesh. He produced fake probate claiming to be the heir of Mahant Raghuvardas. Thereafter, in the year 1990, he managed to procure a back dated stamp paper of the year 1988 and using that he drafted a power of attorney. The said document was neither registered nor notorized. Also, the stamp paper has been purchased in the name of some other person who is not concerned with the said property's sale deed."
Mishra further said, "As per the fake document prepared in the year 1990, Kaushalendra Das has sold the trust's land to the builder Urmesh Dudhani and Ganpat Patil for Rs 4 lakhs. The builder Dudhani even claimed to be a farmer by forging the documents. Kaushalendra and Dudhani then connived with corrupt revenue officers and registered their names as owners of the said land in Karanjade.Later they prepared a fake sale deed agreement in the name of their office clerks Vijay Anant Patil and Yashoda Gowda, claiming that the around 84 acres land has been sold to them for Rs 4 crores. Thus, illegally grabbing the trust's land with malafide intentions."
